iSearch – a web search launcher for S60 5th Edition

The iSearch widget is inspired by Russell Beattie’s Q Search widget. Russell made his with 30 lines of code – I used a bit more. iSearch widget has a touch friendly UI and there are currently 8 search options/engines to choose from.

It speeds up the task of searching for stuff on the mighty Internet. Type a word to search for and click the service of your choice and the widget launches the phone’s browser and loads the result. The widget remembers the last thing that you searched for and displays it in the text box when you start the widget next time.

TIP! To make searching even faster you can set one of the services as default so that when you hit the ‘Enter’ key on the keyboard the widget launches the search right away. You set the default by clicking the ‘Enter’ symbol on the right end of the buttons.

FEATURES

Quickly launch searches for
- web sites google, bing
- images google, flickr
- video youtube
- tweets twitter
- facts wikipedia
- dictionary definr
- more services will be added according to users wishes

Other
- N97 homescreen support – just a big button, a limitation of the homescreen
- remembers the last search
- user definable default service

The widget is free but if you like it please consider making a donation to support the developer.

iPM (interactive Photo Manager)

Interactve Photo manager is for mobile phones which uses multi-touch alternative.

Requirements:

- s60 5th - ActionScript Media Management Service API used for getting PathAndFileName
- latest FL needed (version 3.1)
- latest firmware V21.0.025 / v30.0.011

some content error may occur - for avoiding any "content error" please run the nokia galery (which will make all the thumbs for your photos)

participating to http://www.callingallinnovators.com/

key features:

-multi-touch alternative for single-touch mobile devices (zoom/rotate/pan controls)
-chaos order (thumbs allover the screen, like a pile of real photos thrown on a table)
-photo grouping (make groups, add/remove photos to groups)
-kinetic movements
-autoscroll when drag photos
-autosave custom arrangement (groups and photo arrangements)
-only photos loaded (from folder images/camera)

Use:

-drag photos, drag to margins of the screen to pan while dragging
-press the group button and then draw an area witch includes the photos you want to group; then name your group
-drag photos over a group to add them to a group
-enter a group by press&holding on a group icon (it will zoom in and eventualy enters the group)
-remove photos from group (press the ungroup button when in a group, and then pick photos, when finished press again the ungrup button to toggle of ungrouping)
-press delete button to delete photos (physicaly or logicaly)
-press&hold on a photo to zoomin and view; enters zoom/rotate/pan controls (the zoom/rotate/pan button activates automaticaly)
-when in zoom/rotate/pan mode, double tap to set an control point for zoom/rotate, then drag photo from another point to zoom/rotate; single tap the photo to go to pan mode

(recomanded to enter zoom/rotate controls with press/release/press/drag when double tap(press/release/press/release) is bugy and might not work afther first doube tap)

Drawbacks (not related with flashLite programming):

-the thumbs are not made from the aplications, have to run gallery to make the thumbs for us...
-not use of sensor data (as a document run it pops-up the confirming dialog, and is rather useless because of the rotate/zoom controls)
-no copy protection yet (will make one with activate online SN/IMEI encription)

According to author : it works on nokia 5800 with all updates (flash lite 3.1 and firmware v21.0.025) and doesn't work on N97

Kinetic scrolling on any widgets !

As you know, Kinetic scrolling is the popular term to denote the scrolling of a long list with a bit of physics, so that user feels like moving a wheel. The kinetic scrolling feature popularized with the iPhone isn’t just a way to simulate a slot machine with your data, it’s a quick method to zip through lists, scroll through e-mails and surf the web...(this feature is also available on the N97, 5530 XM and 5800 XM)

QT Labs have posted a new example of how to enable kinetic scrolling on widgets applications, check this out :
